each quarter, held during the day, Monday-Friday, in arts, science, history,
management, accounting, market analysis, computing and many other
areas. Members enjoy non-credit courses with no tests, grades or

| Types of online classes |

Instructor-led, asynchronous
Instructor provides assignments, answers questions, leads discussions and
grades student work. All class activities are conducted online. Students
complete work online and interact with classmates and instructor through
online discussions. Some courses may include live chat sessions. |

Live Web casts and archives
Interactive and concurrent with a classroom course, this format employs
live video and audio, and offers the opportunity to observe and discuss
ideas with other online students, classroom students and instructors. If
you miss a class, the archival feature allows you to view it later. |

Self-paced courses
Start and complete courses at times of your choosing. |

Blended/hybrid learning
Courses combine face-to-face instruction with online discussion, quizzes
and other activities. Proportion of face-to-face and online meetings varies

Many online courses at UCR Extension include multimedia content and
may involve the use of large files. Although a dial-up connection may be
sufficient for some courses, it may not provide the best experience in
other courses. A high-speed broadband connection is recommended. |
