Heilwig Jones
Heilwig Jones left a career in advertising to set up programs
recruiting volunteers after her involvement in the aid operation
following the 2004 Asian tsunami. "After experiencing first hand the
extent of assistance volunteers could provide and the impact that
getting involved had on those who were helping, I wanted to enable
more people to get involved. I felt that these were the experiences
that people were looking for - the ability to get involved and help
others whilst learning about different people, new cultures and the
global issues that we read so much about." Heilwig now works with NGOs
in over 20 countries who need volunteer help with teams on the ground
in each location to look after the welfare of volunteers and enable
them to learn about a culture and country as they provide assistance
in valuable development work.
