The PDS Program will be a unique adventure for you, whether you have been overseas or not. Once you have been selected as a PDS Participant, there is much you will need to do to prepare for the experience. Your preparations will probably occupy much or your time and your thoughts, right up to the departure date.
We will supply you with a great deal of information, in order to assist you in your packing and planning. Foreign language guide books and tapes will be provided, and it is highly recommended that you learn a few of the important phrases that you may have an occasion to use in your first week. Also, most of you will have been preceded in your position by another PDS, and he or she will probably be sending you detailed information about your town, your living conditions, and your job. Your predecessors and other PDSs in the vicinity are a valuable source of information and perhaps the best route for answering specific questions. |
